How NRP certification works

Two parts, one card valid for two years

NRP uses a blended approach: an online course, then an in-person, instructor-led session focused on communication, leadership and teamwork.

Part 1

Online learning and exam

Complete the NRP learning assessment, online exam and course survey up to 90 days before your skills session. AAP NRP emails you an access code, which includes the NRP eBook, 9th edition.

Bring a copy of your completed Part 1 certificate to Part 2.

Part 2

Instructor-led skills session

Practice NRP as a team in simulated scenarios. You’ll demonstrate resuscitation skills and knowledge, then take part in a team resuscitation and debriefing.

Certified

Your NRP card

Finish both parts and you’ll receive an American Heart Association and American Academy of Pediatrics NRP certification card, valid for two years.
